The city of Kenai is a small town but it has a real Alaskan
atmosphere. It is rich in culture and tradition having been
heavily influenced by both its Russian and Athabascan
residents.
One of the most famous historical
sites in Kenai is the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary
Church. Over a 100 years old, it is a favored tourist spot
that still serves the Russian Orthodox community in the area.
There are many historic sites in
Kenai, so be sure to stop by the Kenai Convention and Visitor's
Cultural Center to get the low-down on where to go. Or if
you're more interested in modern culture, try visiting the Kenai
